The Church of St.Michael, dedicated to San Michele Arcangelo ( The Archangel Michael),was built at the beginning of the 1700s on the initiative of the parish priest of the time, don Michele de Marchi, who also donated the land on which the Church was built.
This Church is at the beginning of the village arriving from San Martino. It is known to the locals as ‘Frali’,a name linked to a confraternity of monks who managed the Church.
The old people in the village say that a General carrying a box of coins passed through the village while escaping after a defeat in battle. He asked a villager to take care of his ‘treasure’,hoping to return to claim it when the war had ended. He made the villager promise that if he never returned, all the money would be used to build a Church in honour of San Michele (his name perhaps ? ).
He specified that a bell-tower with a small bell to keep away hail stones during storms had to be built at the side of the Church. The question of the bell keeping away hail stones is a matter of discord.
